LEIMERT PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man trying to flee from a gang-related shooting on Monday ended up crashing less than 1/4-mile away into two other vehicles in Leimert Park. He later died from his injuries.
The man, believed to be 25 to 30 years old, was initially shot at McClung Drive and 41st Street, about two blocks from Audubon Middle School, police said.
"He gets hit while in his vehicle," Los Angeles Police Capt. Sean Parker said.
The man then drives only a few blocks away with a female passenger, when their black Cadillac crashed into two other cars at Martin Luther King Jr. and Degnan boulevards at about 6:45 p.m.
Five young adults in a Kia returning home from a movie were sent crashing into a light pole. They were not injured. The other car, a black Lexus, had one driver, who was taken to a hospital.
Police found wads of cash in the front seat of the shooting victim's car. A search for the gunman was underway.
